After multiple revisions, the Advanced Camouflage System has finally entered active service as the Mk14 iteration. The ACS is, at its core, very little more than just an over complicated ghillie suit. Using special fibers, the core webbing of the ACS helps to regulate the body’s temperature, insulating the exterior camouflage from the user’s body heat, ensuring that it can more accurately match the ambient temperature of the user’s current location, preventing easy detection using IR.
The ACS is strapped to the users chest over clothes or light armour, and the belts help to distribute the weight of the cape over the chest such that it doesn’t hinder movement. The ACS covers the chest, head, and the back of the legs. The effect is most convincing when the user is lying prone, as most of the camouflage is on the back of the suit. The camouflage can be easily swapped out at a moment’s notice simply by ripping it off the velcro strips that hold it to the webbing.
